Mary Ann Pope

Cosmetology / Phase 2 Colorist / Instructor

Mary Ann has been in the industry for over 40 years and had the opportunity to educate for two major color manufacturers along her journey. Mary Ann retired from standing behind the chair in January 2023 and came to Champions requesting information on how to become an instructor.
She says she knew we were her people from her first interview. (We knew she was a Champion that day, too!) She immediately saw Champions’ vision of blending the world of barbering and cosmetology and knew she needed her Barbering license. She joined us first as a student and became a dual licensed barber/stylist. Her biggest passion is education, and she loves to see the “lightbulb” come on. She believes in giving back and wants to pass her color knowledge to the next generation. She is an avid ally; advocating for all human rights. She has given a large part of herself working with organizations that protect exploited/neglected children. She still gives back tirelessly by doing so much for our community by volunteering with our students to provide haircuts for underprivileged citizens to having brunch and giving a free color class to those that are hungry for more knowledge! Outside of her generosity for others she loves the San Antonio Spurs, Nike sneakers, gardening, being on the lake with her children and grandchildren as well as cuddling with her Shih tzu, Pooch Chi, and submitting to the “needs” of her demanding, featherless, rescue parrot, Clyde!
